Christmas in Yiewsley
Saturday, December 23, 2006
On the last major shopping day before Christmas, shoppers in Yiewsley were treated to the magic of Father Christmas appearing with the Yiewsley and West Drayton Band
playing a medley of Christmas carols outside the Co-Op.
"Simply wonderful," said one shopper who stopped to listen. "You can hear them all the way down the High Street: a fantastic way to brighten up the day! All we need now is some snow instead of all the fog we've been having."
Further along the High Street, undeterred by last year's theft of an ass
, St Matthew's Church had once again set up a traditional crib scene in the churchyard as a reminder of the original Christmas story.
