Goodbye from Gordon's
Thursday, December 21, 2006
After almost thirty years of trading on Yiewsley High Street, Gordon Ede has announced that he won't be returning to Yiewsley after the redevelopment that he set in motion
. The announcement was made with a full page colour advertisement in this week's Gazette for the Closing Down Sale which starts at 10am, Friday 29th December.
Speaking to Tom Parnell in a separate Gazette article, Gordon explained, "I feel the town is now unsafe, virtually every day there is some form of violence and then only a few weeks ago the lady who owned the Chinese takeaway was murdered
. I wish to retire. I had hoped my daughters would continue the business but there is no way I would rest with my daughters' safety in doubt." (Uxbridge Gazette, Wednesday, December 20, 2006, p.5
